Attending VMware Explore 2024 in Las Vegas promises to be a game-changing experience for IT professionals, developers, and tech enthusiasts alike. Here are my seven reasons why you should mark your calendar and secure your spot:

1. Cutting-Edge Insights and Innovations
#

VMware Explore is renowned for unveiling the latest advancements in cloud computing, virtualization, and digital infrastructure. Attendees will gain exclusive insights into VMware’s newest products, strategies, and innovations that are shaping the future of IT. The event will feature keynote sessions from industry leaders, providing a deep dive into the emerging technologies and trends driving the digital transformation landscape.

VMware has been a leader in the IT space for many years, and that hasn’t changed. We’re still innovating, still striving to provide the best solutions possible. And it’s not just about infrastructure. Yes, there’s always infrastructure, but that serves a crucial purpose - providing a foundation on which to develop and run applications. Much of what we do and enable goes beyond just the infrastructure and into the application space.

2. Networking Opportunities
#

One of the most significant benefits of attending VMware Explore is the unparalleled networking opportunities it offers. The event attracts a diverse group of professionals, including IT administrators, developers, solution architects, and business leaders. By participating, you’ll have the chance to connect with peers, share knowledge, and forge valuable relationships that can enhance your professional network and career prospects.

The networking opportunities are probably the key reason why I go, aside from it actually being part of my job. Let’s face it, without these sorts of networking opportunities I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I really enjoy my job!

3. Hands-On Labs and Technical Sessions
#

For those eager to hone their skills and gain practical experience, VMware Explore provides a variety of hands-on labs and technical sessions. These interactive learning opportunities are designed to help attendees master VMware technologies, troubleshoot real-world scenarios, and gain the expertise needed to drive their organizations forward. Expert-led workshops and in-depth technical breakouts ensure that you return with actionable insights and enhanced capabilities.

The content catalog hasn’t been published yet, but I’m hoping to get a couple of sessions in there. If not, there’s likely going to be a few that I’ll try to go to.

4. Expert-Led Training and Certification Opportunities
#

VMware Explore is an excellent venue for professional development. Attendees can take advantage of specialized training sessions and certification exams offered on-site. Earning a VMware certification can significantly boost your credentials and demonstrate your expertise in managing and deploying VMware solutions. This not only enhances your skill set but also increases your value in the job market.

It can be difficult to squeeze in time for training or certification whilst at a conference, but there are opportunities to do so if that’s your interest. I’ve been involved with helping to create certifications at VMware for a few years, and I’m busy with that again now. I can’t say anything more about it… yet!

5. Access to the Solutions Exchange
#

The Solutions Exchange is the heart of VMware Explore, showcasing the latest products and services from VMware partners and exhibitors. Here, you can explore cutting-edge solutions, engage with vendors, and discover tools that can help streamline your operations and drive innovation within your organization. The Solutions Exchange is a vibrant hub of activity where you can see live demonstrations, ask questions, and find the best solutions tailored to your needs.

I expect that I’ll be spending a good chunk of time in the Solutions Exchange as I’ll be working on the VMware booth. Come and find me for a chat and / or a demo on any of these topics:

  • Configuration and Vulnerability Management (Tanzu Salt)
  • Infrastructure and application discovery and visibility (Tanzu Platform hub and Tanzu Salt)
  • Application management
  • Automation

6. Inspiration and Vision
#

Beyond the technical knowledge and skills, VMware Explore inspires attendees by highlighting visionary ideas and success stories from across the globe. Listening to thought leaders and industry pioneers share their experiences can spark new ideas and inspire you to drive change within your own organization. The event’s vibrant atmosphere and forward-thinking content will leave you energized and ready to tackle the challenges of the future.

Aside from being very tired afterwards, I always feel invigorated when attending one of these types of events. It reignites my passion and, once the jetlag clears, gives me new energy.

7. Experience Las Vegas
#

Lastly, attending VMware Explore 2024 in Las Vegas offers the added benefit of experiencing one of the world’s most exciting cities. Known for its entertainment, dining, and vibrant nightlife, Las Vegas provides the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable event. Combine professional development with leisure and take advantage of everything the city has to offer. Well, probably not everything.

Last year I managed to squeeze in visits to Death Valley, Hoover Dam, and a local gun range (we don’t allow that in the UK).
